After studying medicine and working as a doctor, Amanda had various roles in the Health industry. She was one of the many people who decided to change their careers during the pandemic - she did Le Wagon's Bootcamp and is now a consultant for DigIO!

I. Hi! Can you introduce yourself to our community?
Hi everyone, I’m Amanda! I graduated from Le Wagon Melbourne Batch #534 in March 2021. I'm currently working as an Associate Software Engineer at DigIO. I have been living in Melbourne for the past 6 years and I studied Medicine before moving to Australia.
II. What did you do before joining Le Wagon in Melbourne?
Before joining Le Wagon, I was working as an Administration Manager at a medical center. I worked in Health Management for 5 years and got the opportunity to do various roles. It was something I enjoyed but, at the end, I felt like I was not progressing further in my career. During this time, the pandemic hit, and I got the chance to experience how technology was used to deliver patient care. The combination of Health and Technology has always fascinated me, so I took the decision to change my career to tech and I resigned from my job. I decided that I would need to learn coding and looking at all the options, Le Wagon full-time Bootcamp was the best one for me in terms of duration, price and content. I was determined to make this change in my life!
III. How would you describe your experience in Le Wagon Australia?
It was a great experience for me. I did most of the Bootcamp remotely which gave me flexibility, and I enjoyed working remotely. From the start to the end, there was not a dull moment. The teachers and teacher assistants were amazing, the course was well structured and we always got all the support we needed. There was a lot to learn and sometimes you become overwhelmed, but because of the strong guidance and support you get from everyone at Le Wagon, you overcome the challenges. My batchmates were amazing people and we always supported each other. During the Bootcamp, we learn the foundations of coding which will help later and is essential when you learn new programming languages. I also learned pair programming, project management and team communication, which is very useful when you work in any company. Batch 534 during their Demo Day in Melbourne
IV. So, what’s up since you graduated?
Two months after the Bootcamp, I got an opportunity to join Mantel Group traineeship program, a 9-week traineeship with the possibility of being offered a position in the company. That was my case: I was offered a position as an Associate Software Engineer in DigIO, one of the brands of Mantel Group. Currently, I am working for ANZ as a consultant from DigIO. I am working as a back-end engineer using Golang as the programming language. It has been a steep learning curve but I am enjoying every bit of it. I am still discovering the new opportunities that I have got, but in the future, if I get a chance, I would like to work in the HealthTech industry where I can use both my medical knowledge and my technical skills.
V. What would you say to someone thinking about joining the course?
If you are thinking of changing your career and entering into the tech space, this is the course for you. If you don’t want to do a full-time course, Le Wagon also offers you a part-time option so you can learn coding while working in your current job. You can also join a session held by Le Wagon to know more about the courses or reach out to the alumni community to know about their experience during the Bootcamp! You should always do your research and decide what the best option is for you - for me, it was, and the course has made my career change journey possible.
