What motivated you to take the leap towards this career change?
During my last year in university, after 4 difficult years, I wanted to seek a new challenge. Although I loved the fashion industry and the business side of it especially, there was another field that got my adrenaline pumping. It seemed like in the past few years, technology had evolved in a massive way. I knew the future of fashion was tech, and so, when I moved to New York City after university, I started to attend coding workshops. I bought a stack of books to teach myself a little bit of HTML and CSS, which eventually landed me a scholarship learning User Experience (UX) Design! I thought I wanted to work as a UX Designer at a fashion or retail company. However, I quickly realized that coding and software engineering skills were more sought after.

I’ve always had an entrepreneurial mindset and my favorite classes in school reflected that. For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a head full of ideas I wanted to bring to life. In 2018, I decided to take the plunge and work on my own business, but I knew I needed to build an MVP first. For a year and a half, I worked on building my MVP using software with a graphical user interface, but now I realize that if I want to fully own my product, I need to gain more technical skills.
Why did you choose to study web development at Le Wagon?
I chose Le Wagon because, prior to enrolling in the program, I attended a
few workshops and I loved the experience. When I researched the program deeper and attended the bootcamp information day, I quickly realized that it was exactly what I was looking for.
Le Wagon is a very product oriented bootcamp, which means that after completing the course, I’d know all the steps for developing my own product—I’d learn how to manage the development phase from A-Z. I’d also be able to find working opportunities in the tech industry and broaden my knowledge of different areas in tech.
What advice would you give to women who are still waiting to start?
I’m currently part of a batch where 60% of the students are women. Although this isn’t always the case, it shows that more and more women are interested in entering an industry that has traditionally been a Boys Club. More women than ever before are working to get a seat at the table, and more tables are being built by women!

If you are a woman, you can definitely bring a lot to this industry, and I do believe that there are more people who are open to this idea than you might think! This is a great investment in yourself that will be useful forever.
