Tokyo’s tech and design scene is full of very dynamic communities, and we’re constantly inspired by the people who keep them alive. Anyone who’s ever organized an event knows how much energy it takes – and honestly, we have HUGE respect for that stamina. So we thought… why not share some of these communities with you?
Below is our most up-to-date 2026 list: check out the communities we know personally and have collaborated with, and also the ones we would love to work with one day!
Tokyo Rubyist Meetup is run by Paul McMahon, serial entrepreneur and founder of TokyoDev, and it’s a home for anyone who loves Ruby programming language, from first-timers to long-time pros.
They host frequent, friendly tech talks where speakers share “TIL” moments and dive into interesting Ruby features. Add pizza, casual networking, and a very welcoming crowd, and you get the vibe.
As a coding bootcamp that teaches Ruby, we’re always happy to host this meetup at our campus and to see Rubyists from all backgrounds, including Le Wagon alumni from every cohort.

Co-launched by our alumna Lindsay, Tokyo Design Community is a design-led community hub focused on empowering product designers, developers, and builders through hands-on practice and collective learning. Based in Tokyo but with a global reach, they bridge theory and practice through workshops, design jams, hackathons, and expert-led keynotes.
We’ve had the pleasure of hosting several Tokyo Design Community workshops and hackathons at our campus, and we can fully attest to the creative energy they bring to every event. There’s always a great mix of curiosity, collaboration, and genuinely inspiring ideas in the room.
Recently we hosted: Design Jam ー Build For Yourself, App or Game Make Your Life Happier
Previously known as Women Who Code Tokyo, WiSE JP is a women-led tech community supporting women in software engineering across Japan. They run frequent online study sessions, lightning talks, and hands-on workshops, and are especially known for offering practical, honest career advice.
The community is led by an all-women leadership board of working tech professionals who are highly active, visible, and committed to supporting others in the field. They also have a very helpful Slack channel.

Women in Science Japan was co-launched by our Data Science alumna Elizabeth and is now led by another brilliant woman in STEM. The community supports women and gender minorities in STEM through casual meetups, events, mentorship programs, and even a summer Machine Learning school.
With a strong focus on helping women scientists reach their full potential, they also do incredible work supporting high school and university students across Japan, especially girls who are considering futures in science and technology.
Recently we hosted: Women in Science Japan 1st Annual Flagship Event

Co-started in 2023 by our Data Science alumna Aishu, DataMinds is a community for data professionals and enthusiasts focused on connection and knowledge-sharing.
They organize casual mixers, networking nights, and small seminars that make it easy to start conversations and learn from one another. The community brings together people from core data roles, as well as those who don’t work directly in AI but collaborate closely with data teams.
These members join to better understand the data world, and that’s exactly the kind of bridge DataMinds is all about building.

Recently we hosted: Exploring AI in the Insurance Industry
Creaba is a creative and tech community bringing together designers, startup builders, and makers through events, workshops, and hands-on collaboration around innovation.
At the heart of Creaba is a focus on creating learning spaces for Gen Z navigating life and career transitions (thanks to the co-founder Annie!). Their community includes many international university students and young professionals, making each event a diverse, open, and energetic place to learn and connect.

Tokyo Go (Golang) meetup is a community for Golang enthusiasts of all skill levels to connect and share their passion for the language. The group hosts in-person speaking events in Tokyo, featuring talks from members of the Go community, and our campus has already been a venue for a few of them.
Their typical format ranges from 10-minute lightning talks to longer presentations (up to 50 minutes), as long as all contributions follow the Go Community Code of Conduct (https://go.dev/conduct).

Founded by UX designer Teresa Fong, Creative Tokyo has long been an active force in the local creative scene and has collaborated with many communities, including ours. Their events bring together artists, designers, makers, and media creators. Beyond events, they also run a job board, mentorship program, and a range of other initiatives supporting creatives at every stage.
Recently we hosted: Lightning Talks: Spooky Edition 🎃
Tokyo Digital Marketers is a bilingual meetup for digital marketing professionals, SEO specialists, and growth hackers to exchange insights, case studies, and industry know-how. This is a bilingual (English/Japanese) meetup to get together, listen to presentations, swap ideas, and forge relationships in a casual atmosphere. They meet about once a month in Tokyo, followed by Nijikai (drinks) afterwards.
Recently we hosted: How major Japanese brands are utilizing Social Media Loyalty Marketing
Melting Hack is a hackathon-style community in Tokyo where developers, designers, and AI builders come together to collaborate on themed challenges and creative coding events. With 750+ members, they’ve organized 30+ events so far, including a one-day AI Agent hackathon at our campus. It was a super fun Saturday, and we’d highly recommend it to anyone interested in building cool things together.

Tokyo Software Testing Meetup is a community for QA engineers and software testers to exchange knowledge on testing tools, automation strategies, and quality engineering trends in modern software development. In addition to regular meetups, they organize Tokyo Test Fest, an international testing conference in Tokyo that brings together 200–250+ testing professionals, featuring global speakers, hands-on workshops, and two days of talks and networking.

ProductTank Tokyo is a meetup for product managers, UX designers, and founders to exchange ideas around product strategy, user research, and development best practices. Co-founded by one of our alumni, the group goes beyond traditional talks,offering meetups, lightning talks, and casual social gatherings that make it easy to connect, learn, and share experiences within Tokyo’s product community.

Vibe Coders Tokyo is a cozy, emerging community where members gather monthly to share what they’re building with AI. The group focuses on small-group demos, project share-outs, and the occasional hands-on workshop, creating an engaged, supportive space for makers who want to learn from each other and build together.

Tokyo Python Meetup is a vibrant, English-speaking community for Python enthusiasts in Tokyo, active since 2017. Meetups explore the Python ecosystem, from libraries and frameworks (FastAPI, Django) to machine learning and data science. Open to locals and visitors from Japan and around the world, with ongoing discussions on Discord.

Tokyo Student Network is a new collective bringing together students across business, and creative fields in Tokyo. The community hosts workshops, job and career insights, study sessions, and social meetups, all shaped and led by Generation Z, bringing a fresh, student-first perspective. They’re also known for their highly creative social media marketing, using playful, original content to engage and grow their community.

Sollective runs a curated freelance community that connects screened freelancers with great companies. They help freelancers grow their careers and expand their reach, while supporting companies of all sizes in building agile teams with freelance talent. Sollective organizes online and offline meetups, seminars and learning events, and we have been super happy to partner with them for the biggest bilingual tech job fair in Tokyo!

Dev Japan is a community and meetup group for developers, engineers, and people involved in tech in Tokyo. It was started in 2015 with the goal of giving people a space to connect outside their usual work environment. The group is public on Meetup with several thousand members (over ~6,400 followers), and it’s very active with regular weekend meetups right next to our campus.

TokyoDev is a job board and community that helps international software developers start and grow their careers in Japan. Through curated job listings, insightful articles, and community events, it connects developers with English-friendly companies and supports them in building successful careers in Japan’s tech industry.

Le Wagon Tokyo is a coding bootcamp that hosts free weekly workshops and meetups in Tokyo, online and on-campus. These include free hands-on workshops and beginner-friendly sessions, free live courses like Programming for Everybody and Data Science & AI foundations, as well as software meetups. The campus also regularly showcases student achievements through Demo Day events, where graduates from web development, data science, and AI bootcamps present their final projects.

Takeoff Tokyo is a major international startup conference and pitch event based in Tokyo, aimed at founders with global ambitions, investors, innovators, and ecosystem builders. Since its first edition in 2023, Takeoff Tokyo has quickly become one of Asia’s flagship startup events, bringing together thousands of participants from around the world.
Key people involved with Takeoff Tokyo are also organizers of Builders Weekend, a 48-hour hackathon where developers, designers, students, and founders team up over a weekend to build prototypes and MVPs.

Led by Tokyo-based engineering managers Benjamin, Clément, and Christine, Tokyo Tech Leads Circle creates a space for building meaningful connections in engineering management and technical leadership. It is the only English-speaking group in Tokyo dedicated to people working in or aspiring to grow into tech leadership roles. It features high-caliber speakers who share strategic perspectives and real-world experience, making it an inspiring place to learn, reflect, and level up as a tech leader.
A community that puts failure front and center. Led by our alumni Riley, Tokyo Fail Club creates a bold, honest space where stories of failed businesses and broken projects are shared, challenged, and celebrated. By breaking the stigma around failure, the community empowers people to speak openly, ask real questions, and turn hard lessons into meaningful growth.
A11yTokyo is a community dedicated to advancing accessibility and inclusive design in Tokyo. The group brings together designers, developers, product managers, and advocates to share ideas, best practices, and real-world experiences around building more inclusive products and services. Open to anyone interested in accessibility, the meetup fosters learning, collaboration, and meaningful discussion across disciplines.
Tokyo AI (TAI) is Japan’s largest AI community, bringing together over 4,000 members including engineers, researchers, investors, product managers, and corporate leaders. Led by ML engineer and entrepreneur Ilya, the group hosts weekly events across company offices, coworking spaces, and partner venues. With a strong focus on collaboration and knowledge sharing, Tokyo AI is actively working to position Tokyo as a global hub for artificial intelligence.
Musubi Tech, launched by entrepreneur Joe Baz, is a community of mission-driven tech startup founders and leaders, both Japanese and international, who are exploring new ways of working, building meaningful connections, and collaborating to tackle society’s toughest challenges. By working together, members believe they can achieve mutual growth, solve global problems more effectively, and foster healthy, innovative workplaces.
