AI isn’t taking jobs, it’s creating opportunity: Insights from PwC’s 2025 Global AI Jobs Barometer

PwC’s 2025 AI Jobs Barometer reveals that AI isn’t replacing workers, it’s increasing their value. Here's what nearly a billion job ads can tell us about the future of work, skills, and wages.

AI is not a threat. It’s an opportunity.

That’s the clear message from PwC’s 2025 Global AI Jobs Barometer, one of the most comprehensive studies to date on how artificial intelligence is impacting the world of work. By analysing nearly one billion job ads across six continents, PwC uncovered how AI is reshaping, not replacing the workforce.

Here are the key takeaways you should know:

1. AI-exposed roles are seeing faster wage growth

Contrary to common fears, jobs most exposed to AI, those where automation is theoretically easiest, are seeing wage growth up to 25% faster than less exposed roles. The message? AI is increasing the value of human workers in these positions, not diminishing it.

“AI can make people more valuable, not less – even in the most highly automatable jobs.” – PwC

2. Demand for AI-related skills keeps rising

Roles requiring AI capabilities, such as prompt engineering, machine learning, or working with AI-powered tools, grew by 7.5% in the past year. The signal is clear: employers are actively seeking talent that can adapt to and work with AI systems.

3. Productivity gains are real, and linked to human learning

PwC highlights that sectors where employees are upskilling with AI are seeing early signs of productivity gains, underscoring the need for human learning alongside AI deployment.

4. The global shift is already happening

From North America to Southeast Asia, the trend is clear: AI is reshaping the workforce at scale. The best-prepared countries and companies are those that are actively retraining workers and building digital capabilities.

In fact, 100% of industries studied are increasing their use of AI, a clear sign that this shift is universal, not sector-specific.
