Joining Le Wagon to achieve her goals
Emilie enrolled in Le Wagon Montréal to bring her ideas to life from concept to implementation. She sought comprehensive skills to combine business and technical aspects effectively. Le Wagon provided her with the knowledge and the skills for her to turn her concepts into tangible solutions, as she hoped: “I wanted to master not only the ideation and product development phase but also combine business and technical aspects up to the final implementation”.
“The bootcamp was an intense and enriching learning phase within a community passionate about learning to code” Emilie noted. “The months following the bootcamp were just as crucial, allowing me to digest all the acquired knowledge and practice it at my own pace, thereby solidifying my skills sustainably”.
From Le Wagon student to social entrepreneur
A few months after completing the bootcamp, Emilie prototyped a fintech product and registered her startup, Finfun, in Georgia. She launched financial and educational chatbots across Madagascar, Latin America, and Kazakhstan. Her startup’s success led to her also working with a California-based company specializing in the open-source framework she used for her projects.
On a daily basis, Emilie leverages her Ruby programming skills, honed during the bootcamp, to develop robust solutions that drive her projects and the company’s she works with forward. Her dual role allows her to stay at the forefront of technology while pursuing her entrepreneurial ambitions.
“Ruby and Rails are still my favorite technological choices, and they continue to play an essential role in the development and optimization of the solutions I offer,” she confirms.
Drawing from her microfinance experience, Emilie founded Finfun to make financial technologies accessible to microfinance institutions in developing countries. She loves creating tech solutions tailored to clients’ needs, which keeps her motivated. However, she faces challenges such as adapting technologies to regions with limited infrastructure and managing small IT teams handling multiple projects.
