How I learnt to code and build my company in only 9 weeks

Meet our Alumni Dorian who learned how to code in 9 weeks at one of Le Wagon Berlin Web Development Bootcamps. He met a few teammates during the batch and together decided to create Yance Sports based on the project they started during their project week at the Bootcamp.
Summary
Before Le Wagon, I was leading the commercial department for a german online marketing company that specializes in Hotels & Travel. I actually wanted to learn how to code for a long time before joining but never really got to do it. Between love, life and career, code was hard to fit. HOWEVER, when a global pandemic hit and all hotels were closed, I suddenly had the time haha! And just like it happens every so often, all things fit together at the same time. I knew I needed a change, an awesome business idea got stuck in my brain and I met 3 people who had graduated from Le Wagon and were living their best lives, so one evening in may 2020 I applied on a whim.

Everyone was telling me I’d learn to code in 9 weeks but I struggled to believe it. So I went in with an open mind thinking I’d just have to see and hope it was true :). IT WAS TRUE!

I didn’t know what to expect from Le Wagon. Everyone was telling me I’d learn to code in 9 weeks but I struggled to believe it. So I went in with an open mind thinking I’d just have to see and hope it was true :). IT WAS TRUE! But it took 6 weeks to realize… haha!
First, you go through 3 weeks of brain pain with full nights of dreaming in ruby... NOT FUN. Then you start to get a hang of it but still don’t really understand how any of what you’re learning is useful. AND THEN in week 6, it all comes together.
You start building your first real applications and realize the endless opportunities. It was a great experience. The best part for me was clearly the last 2 weeks, getting to build the first version of my idea and being able to present it on demo day. What a great feeling!

We used the Le Wagon network to find more people to join us and immediately started building and in less than 4 months, we launched Yance Sports.

After Le Wagon, everything went super fast. Edoardo, Cassy, and I, who had worked together on my idea during the demo wek, decided to continue working together to turn the idea into a real company. We used the Le Wagon network to find more people to join us and immediately started building and in less than 4 months, we launched Yance Sports; a social fitness platform for live classes with integrated 2-way streaming, chat, easy navigation, filtering, and class scheduling on a simple user membership model. The goal is to make home sports more motivating through live group interactions and real-time corrections.
We’re now a team of 5 Le Wagon Alumni plus my co-founder, we have a growing number of members and we have live classes happening every day in English and German for Yoga, Barre, Zumba, Cardio, Full Body workouts, and more. It’s just the beginning of the adventure but it sure is a lot of fun and feels great!

It’s really amazing to think that just 9 weeks can really change someone’s life and create such opportunities!
