The numbers tell a sobering story.

Women make up 42% of the global workforce, yet only 26-28% work in tech (1). In Canada, only 24% of tech workers are women (2). In 20 years, we’ve only seen a 3% increase—from 21% in 2001 to 24% in 2023 (2).

Globally, just 22% of AI roles are held by women (3), and a mere 11% of tech executive positions are occupied by women (4).

The tech industry remains stubbornly male-dominated.

At Le Wagon Canada, increasing diversity in tech isn’t just a talking point—it’s part of our DNA. We’re proud that 34% of our bootcamp alumni in Montreal are women, exceeding both Canadian and global averages. These women came from healthcare, marketing, engineering, and beyond. Here are their stories:

Women from Le Wagon Canada AI Software / Web Development bootcamp

Winnie left her career as a pediatric occupational therapist to become a full-stack developer, driven by a mission to make the web more accessible for people with disabilities.

Gwladys combined her business background with web development skills to become a Product Owner Consultant, moving from developer to team lead in the healthcare sector.

Ines transitioned from marketing to freelance web development, now traveling across Europe as a digital nomad while building web solutions for clients worldwide.

Julie-Ann went from nurse clinician to tech entrepreneur, launching INFIRNAA—a platform that uses virtual simulations and interactive case studies to enhance clinical training for nurses.

Charlotte, Chloé, and Heling completed Le Wagon’s intensive full-time bootcamp while on maternity leave with young children—proving that determination knows no boundaries.

Women from Le Wagon Canada Data bootcamps (Data Science & AI / Data Analytics)

Wafa, already an accomplished engineer with a PhD in vision and AI, chose Le Wagon to pivot into Data Science—and landed a role as a Computer Vision Engineer at a startup shortly after.

Coline leveraged her Data Analytics bootcamp training to land a role as a Risk and Real Estate Analyst, where she uses Power BI and data skills daily.

Morgane enhanced her career at Pratt & Whitney Canada by mastering Data Science, enabling her to lead advanced analytics projects within her team.

Élise transitioned from industrial engineering to Data Science and now works as a Data Scientist at Sia Partners, designing and deploying AI solutions for clients across various industries.

These women didn’t wait for perfect conditions. They didn’t let statistics discourage them. They took action, and created their own opportunities.
